Transportation

Dayton is strategically located at the intersection of multiple transportation nodes; making it the ideal location for manufacturing, logistics, and transportation-related industries. Dayton's proximity to road, rail, air, and shipping routes and the availability of land makes it ideal for industrial and commercial development. 

Ground Transportation

Highway 90 was part of the Old Spanish Trail Highway System, which was an auto trail that once spanned the United States with almost 2,750 miles of roadway from ocean to ocean. Dayton commemorates the project each year in November. 

Newly constructed State Highway 99, which is also known as the Grand Parkway, runs through Dayton’s outskirts and is part of the section that will complete the 180-mile third loop around Houston. 

A large portion of the streets in Dayton are roadways belonging to the Texas Department of Transportation, also known as TXDOT. TXDOT roadways include: Highway 90, Highway 146, Highway 321, FM 1960, FM 1008 aka Clayton Street, FM 1409 aka Winfree, FM 1413, and FM 686. 

The City of Dayton Street & Drainage division is responsible for several programs that keep about 90 lane miles of city streets in good and safe condition for drivers. Programs include pothole repair, skin patch repair, asphalt overlay, concrete panel replacement, street sweeping, drainage improvements mowing, limb trimming, and weed control.

Rail Transportation

Two major rail service providers, Union Pacific & Burlington Northern Santa Fe, have rail lines and storage facilities in Dayton. Direct access to two rail providers enhances Dayton as a site location for large industrial projects who will create new jobs for both existing and future generations of Dayton residents.

 

Air Transportation

Dayton is located in close proximity to two International Airports and several municipal or privately-owned airparks. 

Bush International Airport (IAH) is located 29 miles away, and Hobby International Airport (HOU) is located only 40 miles away. Liberty Municipal airport is 12 miles away and Cleveland  Municipal Airport is 30 miles away. RWJ Airpark, is privately-owned and located approximately 20 miles away. RWJ is the nearest airport to with a 5,000+ foot runway capable of landing large jets. 

Access to Port of Houston

The Port of Houston, one the world's largest ports on the Gulf Coast, is located only 30 miles from Dayton, Texas. The Port can easily be accessed via truck to rail service and provide direct access to shipping channels that cross the globe. 

Additionally, Dayton is located just 25 miles North of multiple bulk transfer facilities offering barge service. 

Dayton's location and access to multiple transportation networks makes it the ideal location to do business in the Greater Houston metro area.
