Dayton Incentives & Grants

Businesses that meet minimum criteria may be eligible for incentives from the City of Dayton or the Dayton Economic Development Corporation. Incentives may include:

  • Real Property Tax Abatements
  • Personal Property Tax Abatements
  • Cash Grants
  • Sales Tax Rebates
  • Expedited Permitting 
  • Reduced Permitting Fees

In order to qualify for any of these incentives, businesses must complete an application and submit it for review for the Incentive Review Committee, who will score the project and make recommendations for incentive agreements, which will need approval from the Dayton Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors and the Dayton City Council. Each business is evaluated on the same criteria including jobs, wages, property and sales tax generation, employee benefits, and more. 

Dayton Incentive Application  Businesses who apply for incentives from Dayton may be eligible for additional incentives from Liberty County. 

Dayton Grant Programs

Businesses or projects that do not qualify for incentives are encouraged to apply for grants from the Dayton Economic Development Corporation for the following programs. 

Dayton Downtown MEGA Grant Program

The purpose of this grant program is to assist with the growth and revitalization of the Downtown District in Dayton by promoting new development, business expansion, and renovation of existing buildings/businesses in accordance with the Unified Development Code, Building Code, or ADA Regulations.

The MEGA Grant Program is designed to overhaul and address all significant issues related to a structure located in the Downtown District. Businesses and Facilities should utilize this grant to complete any and all improvements necessary to address UDC, ADA, or Building Code deficiencies and beautifying and cleaning up the exterior of the facility, or permanent interior renovations. 

Grant funds are provided on a 75-25 match basis and shall not exceed $40,000. 

Dayton Downtown MEGA Grant Program and Application

Dayton Business Assistance Grant Programs

The purpose of this grant program is to assist with the growth and revitalization of the Downtown District in Dayton by promoting new development, business expansion, and renovation of existing buildings/businesses in accordance with the Unified Development Code (UDC), Building Code, or ADA Regulations. 

Eligible grant activities include facade improvements, tenant build-out, and/or interior renovations, Signage, parking lot improvements, and landscaping projects are eligible activities as part of larger projects.  
Grant funds are provided on a 50-50 match basis.
